Common Questions about Groups:

  • Group therapy involves working through challenges with a small group of people who share similar experiences, while individual therapy is a one-on-one session with a therapist.

In group therapy, you gain multiple perspectives and support from peers in addition to guidance from the therapist. In contrast, individual therapy provides more personalized attention, focusing specifically on your unique concerns.

Both approaches are effective, but group therapy offers the added benefit of learning from others and seeing how they handle similar situations.

  • Yes, absolutely! Many people find that group therapy complements their individual therapy sessions. Group therapy provides the opportunity to gain different perspectives, practice new skills in a supportive setting, and connect with others who may be facing similar challenges. It can enhance the progress you’re making in individual therapy by offering a broader sense of community and shared experience, while still allowing you to continue focusing on your personal goals with your therapist.

  • Group sizes typically range from 6 to 10 participants. This allows for a comfortable, intimate setting where everyone has the opportunity to participate and connect with others, while still benefiting from diverse perspectives.

Each session typically lasts 90 minutes, depending on the structure of the group and the activities planned for that day. This time frame allows for meaningful discussions, group exercises, and opportunities for reflection without feeling rushed.

  • When you join a therapy group, you’re committing to the entire duration of the program, which is typically 8-10 sessions. When you sign up, you’re committing to pay for the full program, even if you miss a session, as this helps ensure the group’s cohesion and progress.

The cost of the group varies depending on the specific program, but it’s generally much lower than individual therapy sessions.

  • We know life happens! If you do need to miss a session, don’t worry - your spot in the group is still reserved, and you’re always welcome back the following week.

Regardless of attendance, you will still be responsible for the cost of each session. This is because when you join a therapy group, you’re committing to the full program. Each participant’s presence contributes to the group dynamic, and maintaining a consistent group is essential for everyone’s progress.
